The regular monthly meeting of the Troy Irish Genealogy
Society was not held this month in order to accommodate a presentation
by Jeanne Keefe at the Rensselaer County Historical Society (RCHS)
that was open to the public.
A meeting of the officers of TIGS did take place on
Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at the RCHS.
The following individuals were in attendance; Donna Vaughn,
Kristin Ayotte, Jeanne Keefe, Bill McGrath and Lizette Strait.
Donna Vaughn, President, called the meeting to order
at 5:30 p.m.
A motion was made by Jeanne Keefe and seconded by
Bill McGrath to approve the minutes of the September 21, meeting.
The motion passed. The minutes have been posted to the website.
REPORTS
Donna discussed the need to continue to follow rules
of order at the general meetings, especially in view of our growing
number of attendees. The board members present agreed to assist
in maintaining order, so that the business portion of the meetings
continues to run smoothly.
Kris Ayotte reported that she has arranged for the
November meeting to be held at Minnisales Restaurant in Troy. However,
the meeting space can only hold 16 people therefore she will go
on the list and ask for a headcount prior to the meeting. Future
locations are still being looked into and anyone with suggestions
should let her know.
There was no report from the Secretary as she was
unable to attend.
Bill McGrath reported for Cathy McGrath, Treasurer,
that there is currently $488 in the treasury. $6.21 was spent for
flyers for this evening’s presentation and for a supply of
TIGS brochures. We have currently 59 paid members.
Webmaster, Jeanne Keefe, reported that she is currently
working on the marriage record project as they are forwarded to
her for finalization and formatting. She has not been able yet to
get member cards to Cathy to e-mail to members as they send in their
annual dues.
Lizette Strait, List Administrator, reported that
there are currently 183 list members.
Bill McGrath, Project Chairperson, reported on the
Marriage Index and the 1903 City Directory projects. Jan Sullivan
and Kris White have completed the 1903 city directory project. The
Grooms on the marriage index have been completed, 5000 names. They
are proofed, all problems resolved. There are 213 files to be integrated
in order of 5001 – 10000. The Brides are nearing completion.
OLD BUSINESS
Members who are interested in TIGS shirts will be
asked to bring the item and payment to the next meeting.
A motion was brought that TIGS purchase 6 t-shirts
for screen-printing with out logo to have for resale. Jeanne Keefe
offered to purchase 1 each in size small up to size 2 X. She will
bring to the next meeting. The motion was approved by Jeanne and
seconded by Kris Ayotte
The need for a banner for the group was discussed
as we are planning on marching in the St. Patrick’s Day parade
in Albany next year and we also plan on having a booth at the Irish
Fest next year in September. We will also have to put a schedule
together to staff the booth for the event.
Kris Ayotte told the group that she has some volunteers
for a Look Up Page but would like to post again asking for more
volunteers. She will put the information together and send to Jeanne
for formatting for the website.
The group has been unable to come up with a date for
the Troy Aqua Duck Tour. They run through the end of this month.
The item will be placed back on the agenda next year.
WMHT did not contact the group; perhaps the next time
they do fundraising. The Garden Tour of Troy was tabled until spring.
The LaSalle pictures were sent by Mimi Nicotina to
Jeanne for posting, however she needs further information before
they can go up on the site.
NEW BUSINESS
Donna asked the board members to review the Charter
at this time for any possible proposals for changes or revisions,
which can then be discussed at the next general meeting.
OPEN GENEALOGY FORUM
The presentation by Jeanne Keefe will be take place
immediately following the meeting.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Bill McGrath and seconded by
Lizette Strait to adjourn the meeting. The motion was approved and
the meeting was adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Kristin Ayotte for Kathleen Brearton, Secretary
