REPORTS
Treasurer,
Lizette Strait, reported that the current balance was $3034.86.
There were no other reports.
OLD BUSINESS
Bill McGrath stated that all 10 volumes of the marriage index
have been completed. We have 60 thousand names on-line. Frank
Merola, the Rensselaer County Clerk, will be issuing a press release.
As it relates to the Church Memorial project, Bill stated that
we now have 13 churches on line. Five more churches have been
finished and will be put on line.
We now have
three books on line for St. Agnes Cemetery.
Bill discussed four new projects that TIGS will be working on:
1. St.
Mary’s Cemetery interment records in Troy have to be scanned.
Bill asked for volunteers to meet with Jeanne Keefe at RPI.
2. The Rensselaer County Historic Society has 4 binders of typed
records of Troy vital statistics. Records were compiled by the
Daughters of the American Revolution in the early 1920’s.
Once these records are scanned we will send them to our usual
transcribers.
3. We are working on getting a data base from the Rensselaer County
Historical Society of surrogate court records that will show names
and a date of death. The file has over 31,000 names and covers
the years 1791 to 1915. Researchers will be able to request photocopies
of the documents that may be in these files.
4. A new database of burials by the Toohey Funeral Home in Troy
will be added to the TIGS website.
OTHER BUSINESS
Gerri Sherri talked about the Troy Public library city directories.
She was looking into digital, Jeanne said it would be expensive.
Both will be doing some followup. To have them rebound might be
the best way to go.
Kris reports that she has had positive response to the Ireland
trip scheduled for 10/13 – 10/21. Interested people continue
to contact her for information.
Upcoming elections were discussed. Members were queried into interest
in assuming an office. Cathy McGrath submitted her name for secretary.
Kris will post to the list. A slate will be put together and posted
for voting.
