A motion was made by Jeanne Keefe and seconded by Dick Boland to approve the minutes of the April 10, 2008 meeting. The motion passed. The minutes have been published on the TIGS website.

REPORTS

There were no reports from the President, Vice President or Secretary. In her capacity as Membership Chairman, Kris continues to invite people to attend monthly meetings.

Cathy McGrath, Treasurer, submitted her report to Kris Ayotte; there is currently a balance of $1120.38 with 92 paid members.

Jeanne Keefe, Web Master, discussed the status of scanning of Volumes 6 & 7 of the Rensselaer County Marriage Index. Lizette Strait, List Administrator, reported that there are currently 203 list members.

Bill McGrath submitted a report to the President on the progress of the scanning and transcribing of Volumes 6 and 7 of the Rensselaer County Marriage Index. All the grooms’ names have been scanned and have been sent out for transcription to volunteers. The next step is to scan the bride’s names. In his report, Bill pointed out several problems he is anticipating with Volume 8 of the Index.

OLD BUSINESS

Kris and members who accompanied her on the recent trip discussed how much they enjoyed their time in Ireland. Kris indicated that she was encouraged to arrange more trips in the future, both domestic and overseas.

Orders may be placed at any meeting for T-shirts, sweatshirts and tote bags.

NEW BUSINESS

Discussion of the next issue of the TIGS newsletter was tabled until next month’s meeting. The Webmaster was asked to add Kay Brearton’s name to the Random Acts of Kindness portion of the website because she has access to the St. Mary’s Troy church records which have been transcribed by the American Canadian Genealogy Society.

Mimi Nicotina contacted NYS Assemblyman John McEneny’s office and was told that he would be available to speak on October 16. It was agreed that the topic of his speech should be left up to him to decide. Mimi will check for a location for the event.

Kris Ayotte listed the names on the slate of candidates for officers for TIGS for 2008-2009. Since there are only single candidates for each office, a motion was made by Frank Ryan and seconded by Dick Boland authorizing the Secretary to cast one ballot for the slate of candidates. The motion was approved and the officers were elected by a ballot by the Secretary. The officers are: Kris Ayotte, President; Vice President, vacant; Treasurer, Cathy McGrath; Secretary, Kay Brearton; List Administrator, Brad Miter; Webmaster, Jeanne Keefe; Project Manager, Bill McGrath.

Kris reminded the members that TIGS will participate in Irish Night at the ValleyCats game at the Bruno Stadium at HVCC on August 12 at 7 PM. Dick Boland, who is Vice President for the Troy Division of the AOH, indicated that he will encourage them to participate.

ADJOURNMENT

A motion was made by Jan Sullivan and seconded by Dick Boland to adjourn the meeting. The motion was approved and the meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Kathleen Brearton, Secretary
