Meeting Notes
June 2007
The regular monthly meeting of the Troy Irish Genealogy Society
was held on Thursday, June 21, 2007 at the M.J.’s on the
Avenue in North Troy, New York. The following individuals

The meeting was called to order at 6:40 p.m. by Kris Ayotte, Vice
President, in the absence of the President, Donna Vaughn. The
members were pleased to welcome Mike Rainey, a TIGS member, who
was visiting from Sarasota, Florida.
A motion was made by Rick Shea and seconded by Jan Sullivan to
approve the minutes of the May 17, 2007 meeting. The
motion passed. The minutes have been published on the TIGS
website.
REPORTS
According to a report from President Donna Vaughn, the next issue
of the TIGS newsletter will be available in July. Donna
has requested that the Treasurer keep her apprised of any new members
and their e-mail addresses so that they will be able to access
the newsletter.
There were no reports from the Vice President or Secretary.
Representing Cathy McGrath, Bill McGrath reported that the beginning
balance in the treasury was $906.29. The Antique Appraisal
event raised $270. A check in the amount of $23 was paid
to Lizette Strait for the poster board she purchased. A
petty cash fund has been established in the amount of $30 to cover
small incidental expenses not requiring checks. The
current balance in the treasury is $1123.29. There
are 95 paid members.
Lizette Strait, List Administrator, reported that there are 198
list members.
Bill McGrath, Project Chairperson, reported that Volume III of
the marriage index and the city directory death records and are
ready to be put on line. They will be put up on the site
when Jeanne returns from out of town and is able to catch up on
her work.
OLD BUSINESS
The election results report was submitted by Ed Dyer, Chairman
of the Elections Committee. The slate of officers
was elected; all votes registered were in favor The
Secretary cast one vote for all the candidates. The
officers for the 2007-2008 are: Donna Vaughn, President;
Kris Ayotte, Vice President; Secretary, Kay Brearton; Treasurer,
Cathy McGrath; Web Master, Jeanne Keefe and List Administrator,
Lizette Strait.
Kris Ayotte reported that she is still working to develop the
best itinerary and price for the proposed Ireland trip.
Orders will be taken at the July meeting for TIGS T-shirts and
sweatshirts. Orders must be paid when the orders are
placed.
The new resource list on the website was discussed. Rick
Shea has two sources he would like to add to the list. He
will contact Kris Ayotte to add his sources to the list. Bill
McGrath will advertise the resource list on some of the other lists.
A motion was made by Kris Ayotte and seconded by Rick Shea to
donate $50 to the Mountain View Fire Department for allowing TIGS
to use their facility for the recent Antique Appraisal Fair. The
motion was approved.
Kris Ayotte suggested that an appraisal fair be held again in
the Fall. Members were asked to suggest some other
locations where it could be held. Lizette Strait has
added information about the Fair to the poster board presentation
that will be used at functions. TIGS will have a table at
the Irishfest. The poster board display and the TIGS
banner will be placed on the table in addition to membership applications
and TIGS brochures.
NEW BUSINESS
Kris Ayotte reported that she will submit a grant application
to request funding from the “Honoring out Ancestors” Grant
program. She has been in contact with Amy Halloran of Troy
regarding the grant. There is a website – www.honoringourancestors.com -
where additional information is available.
Kris White has compiled a list of past Exalted Rulers of the Troy
Lodge of Elks.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Jan Sullivan and seconded by Mike Rainey
to adjourn the meeting. The motion was approved and
the meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m. The next meeting
will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at 6:30 PM.
