List Administrator, Brad Miter, has reported that there are currently 213 list members.
Website Administrator, Jeanne Keefe. Reported that Laura Smith’s Death Cards from the Rensselaer County Courthouse has been added to the TIG Projects Page.
OLD BUSINESS
Bill McGrath reported on the Marriage Index project. Volume 8 is on the website with 3500 marriage records. Volume 9 information is all transcribed and is now bein proof read by Bill and Kay Brearton against the paper documents at the County Clerk’s Office. When it is finished it will add another 14,000 names to the index.
The church memorials project now has 7 churches listed on the website and others are in progress.
Jeanne Keefe is still working on the third book of St. Agnes burials. Scanning has been completed and transcription should begin soon.
Kris Ayotte has agreed to “man” a TIGS booth at the City of Troy’s portion of New York State’s Quadricentennial Celebration in Downtown Troy. We will join with other organizations on September 24, 2009 to celebrate the immigrant experiences and their contributions to the City of Troy.
NEW BUSINESS
By-Laws Changes: the change committee will consist of Kris Ayotte and Jeanne Keefe who will draft a by-laws change ballot for approval by the paid membership. The changes to the current by-laws under consideration are in regard to the necessity for a vice-presidential position and the number of time per year we need to hold a formal business meeting.
Unfortunately, due to lack of volunteers, the semi-annual newsletters have been discontinued as a part of the TIGS membership and will be removed from the new Membership Form.
Discussion of what resources are available for us to support with our dues. We talked about paying for the photocopying and rebinding damaged Troy City Directories in the Troy Public Library. (Note Me?) and Bill McGrath will ask them if this is needed and report back. ?
The TIGS group is considering a trip to Scotland and Ireland in September of 2010 for 9 nights (11 days) for approximately $2700 per person. The Ireland portion of the trip will not repeat any of the sites visited by the group in 2008. Itinerary can be found on the CIE website.
Mike Gilligan made the suggestion that on the Meeting Announcement page on the TIGS website, a link to menu of the restaurant where the TIGS monthly meeting will take place. That way people can look it over and be ready to order when they arrive and that might help speed things along.
Genealogy Table: A limited edition book entitled It was just a Dream: Images of Catskill’s Irish Arts Week by Timothy H. Rabb was brought in by Ann Whiteandpassed around.
Next months meeting will also be at Brown’s Brew Pub on Thursday August 20 th, 2009
