The regular monthly meeting of the
Troy Irish Genealogy Society was held Thursday, January 21, 2010
at Moscatello’s Restaurant, Troy, NY
2010 Meeting Dates: February 18th,
March 18th, April 15th, May 20th, June 17th, July 15th, August 19th,
September 16th, October 21st, November 18th, and December 16th.
The following members were in attendance: Kris Ayotte,
Lizette Strait, Donna Vaughn, Noreen Iacobucci, Jan & Bob Sullivan,
Timothy Stone, Gerri Sherry, Mike, Debbie & Katie Gilligan,
Joyce Musco,
The meeting was called to order at 6:35 by Kris Ayotte,
President.
REPORTS
Donna Vaughn continues to email/call previous members that haven’t
attended in a while. She will be setting up future meeting spots
and has booked Moscatellos for the February meeting.
Secretary- There was no approval of the minutes as
they were not complete or posted on website
Treasurer - Lizette Strait reported that the current
balance was 2574.86 Expenses were $387.68 for 2 external 1 terabyte
hard drives and a new battery for the Society's laptop. There are
now 42 paid members for the year so far. $21.63 in petty cash. There
is a motion and second to accept the Treasurers report. All in favor.
List Administrator- Brad Miter has reported there
are 223 list members and that is a new record. Brad has also started
a roll call of family names people are searching for
OLD BUSINESS
Marriage Index Project Volume 10 (5000names) is ready Bill McGrath
reports File is sent Frank Merola, Rensselaer County Clerk, who
will print a file for proof reading against the original paper documents.
Kay Brearton will do the proof reading. This file will go online
in March or April and Frank Merola will do a press release at that
time.
St. Agnes Cemetery Memorial Data Base- Bill McGrath
found another disc with 65 pages for Book 2, and has sent it to
the transcribers. Book 3 has 12,000 records and Bill sent file to
Lynn Sisk to proofread.
Jeanne Keefe will be contacting St Agnes cemetery
about scanning another interment book. Upcoming in March: memorials
for St Mary’s Church in Albany
Newsletter –Donna Vaughn would be willing to
do some articles in the future.
Victorian Stroll – We had a bad location this
year and did not do too well or reach as many people as last year.
With table fees etc we had a 56$ loss. Lizzette Strait, Jan Sullivan,
Kris Ayotte, Noreen Iacobucci and Tim Stone volunteered time at
the booth. Donna Vaughn motioned to reimburse Kris Ayotte for supplies
and Mike Gilligan seconded. All in favor. Tim will put together
a visual aid for next time.
Food Pantry - Everyone brought food for the food pantry
to the Christmas meeting and Mike Gilligan brought the 3 boxes collected
to Rourke Center, where, he says it was very much appreciated.
NEW BUSINESS
Ancestry.com is coming to Boston on February 20 for
Family History Day 8am - 4 pm. There are six classes and Ancestry.com
experts on hand to help you, scan your photos and much more The
class is $30, which includes parking. There is a hotel discounted
rate of 145 at Westin Copley for Feb 19th for those who wish to
stay overnight.
A volunteer is needed for a presentation at next
month's informal gathering which will be at Moscatello’s on
Feb 18 at 6:30. Lizette Strait will do a presentation in March on
the "Floggin Mollies”.
Kris Ayotte has looked into having a trip to Scotland.
Tim Stone will look into a trip to Washington DC.
Donna Vaughn and Tim Stone will work on setting us
up on Facebook.
