REPORTS

The President had no report. She extended seasons greetings to everyone.

There was no report from the Secretary.

On behalf of the Treasurer, Cathy McGrath, Bill McGrath reported that there are 65 paid members and the amount in the treasury is $473.20. There was an expenditure of $60 for ink and paper to reprint brochures and $13.59 to purchase T-shirts which will be offered for sale after the TIGS logo is imprinted on them. Membership cards were distributed to the members.

Jeanne Keefe, Webmaster reported there is a new photo on the website. She has finished compilation of Volume 2 of the marriage index . Jeanne has been asked to give her Troy lecture at RPI. It is scheduled for March 7, 2007 at Noon at the RPI Library and is open to the public..

Lizette Strait reported there are 185 list members.

Project Chairperson, Bill McGrath, reported on the status of the marriage index project. Jeanne Keefe has the complete files and is putting them in final order. Bill has the announcement ready to publish on other mailing lists. He is in contact with the County Clerk attempting to locate missing Volume 2 backup documents. Jeanne Keefe also has the data that was extracted from the 1903 Troy city directory; there were approximately 700 deaths.

OLD BUSINESS

Donna Vaughn discussed the status of the order for the TIGS imprinted sweatshirts/T-shirts. At the current time she does not have the required number of 12 to get the imprint price of $10 per shirt. A motion was made by Jeanne Keefe and seconded by Kris White to approve an expenditure of the necessary funds to make up the balance. The motion was approved.

The purchase of a banner for the Society for use at public functions and to carry in parades was discussed. Jeanne Keefe received a price of $160 for a 3’ x 8’ banner from One Day Sign Company in Waterford. Donna suggested that other vendors be checked before a recommendation to purchase is made to the membership. Kay Brearton offered to get quotes from other vendors and to report back at a meeting.

The members discussed possible ways of increasing the balance in the treasury. Donna asked the members how they felt about increasing the dues; an increase to $10 a year was suggested. Lizette recommended that members be allowed to vote on the matter. After considerable discussion, Donna suggested posting a message on the list to get feedback on a possible dues increase explaining why additional funds are needed to achieve goals of the Society. A motion was made by Kris Ayotte and seconded by Jeanne Keefe to increase the annual dues to $10 per household. The vote was 12 in favor; one against; one abstention. The motion carried.

WMHT has not contacted Jeanne Keefe about TIGS involvement in their fundraising efforts. Mini Nicotina and Donna Vaughn are looking into creating a TIGS newsletter; Ann White will assist them. Lizette offered to write an article for inclusion in a newsletter. Several suggestions were made including book reviews and classified ads.

Kris reported that the resource list she compiled is ready and Jeanne Keefe will be placing it on the website. Kris volunteered to laminate the membership cards for the people who were present at the meeting.

Donna asked the members to look over the organization’s charter and make any suggestions for changes. Jeanne Keefe is waiting to hear back about the possibility of a tour of the NYS Library. The Garden Tour was tabled until Spring.

NEW BUSINESS

There was an article in the Westchester Genealogy Society newsletter regarding the Rensselaer County Marriage Index project. Donna announced that there will be a planning meeting of the Board in January. Bill McGrath left a supply of TIGS brochures at the Rensselaer County Surrogate Court office.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2007 at the Red Front Restaurant in Troy.

ADJOURNMENT

A motion was made by Jeanne Keefe and seconded by Kris Ayotte to adjourn the meeting. The motion was approved and the meeting was adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
