REPORTS

The Treasurer, Cathy McGrath, reported the beginning balance in the TIGS treasury was $1788.38; $190 has been received for dues. There is $29.50 in the petty cash fund and 85 paid members to date. The current balance is $1978.38.

List Administrator, Brad Miter, has reported that there are currently 204 list members.

OLD BUSINESS

The members discussed the Spring plant sale. The sale will be held in the parking lot of the Tipperary Trading Company in Brunswick on Saturday, May 30, 2009. Jan Sullivan had fliers printed and a copy of the flier will be posted on the TIGS website. Members took copies of the flier to post in area locations. The committee will meet on May 2 between 9 and 10. On the day of the sale, refreshments will be available and there will be a raffle held. Lizette will handle publicity in the “Advertiser”.

Bill McGrath reported on the Marriage Index project. There are a few more pages of Volume 8 to be finished at the Clerk’s office. Volume 9 information has been sent out to transcribers.

The members discussed the church memorials project. A few churches have been completed and some others are in progress.

Jeanne Keefe is working on the scanning of the third book of St. Agnes burials. Donna Vaughn will be presenting a talk at the cemetery on April 30; reservations are required and information is available on the TIGS website. Kris again noted that burial records for the Old Mt. Ida Cemetery are being held at the Troy Parks & Recreation Department. In the future, transcription of these records might be a project of TIGS.

NEW BUSINESS

TIGS will participate in the City of Troy’s portion of New York State’s Quadricentennial celebration. We will join with other organizations on September 24, 2009 to celebrate the immigrant experiences and their contributions to the City of Troy.

Members were asked to make nominations for the various offices within TIGS for the upcoming year. Cathy McGrath and Kay Brearton have decided not to run again for their respective offices of Treasurer and Secretary. Kris agreed to stay on as President and Jeanne Keefe will remain on as Webmaster. Brad Miter has notified Kris that he will continue as List Administrator and Bill McGrath offered to continue as Project Coordinator. Nominees are needed for Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. Kris will send out a notice to the list asking for volunteers. If we are unable to fill the offices, the organization may have to change its format or disband. Jeanne Keefe offered to also serve as Vice President if no one volunteers for that post.

A motion was made by Cathy McGrath and seconded by Mike Gilligan to make a donation of $125 (Antiquarian) to the Rensselaer County Historical Society. The motion was approved.

The members discussed making a donation to the Troy Public Library and decided to wait until the ACGS books for St. Joseph’s in South Troy are published. At that time, TIGS could purchase one or more of the books and donate them to the Genealogy Room.

The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 21 at the Pub Restaurant.

ADJOURNMENT

A motion was made by Cathy McGrath and seconded by Mike Gilligan to adjourn the meeting. The motion was approved and the meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Kathleen Brearton, Secretary
