Malone

John Malone born, May 1857 in the area of Clogan, County Offaly Ireland. known as "the bottoms" married Bridget McIntyre, who was born in 1860+/- in Ireland in the same area as John Malone.

John's father, Richard Malone was a farmer and was born in County Offlay in 1809 and died there in Banagher on 05/01/1884. John's mother, Margaret Navin or Nevin was born in 1812 and died 02/07/1883 in Banagher.

Bridget's parents were John McIntyre and Ann Carroll McIntyre. Bridget was the youngest of John and Ann's 12 children.

John Malone first appears in the Troy area in 1871 when at 14 years of age he declared his intention of becoming a U.S. citizen. No further record is available for John until 1886 when he appears in the Troy city directory living on Tyler Street in South Troy and is listed as a mason, at that time he was already married to Bridget McIntyre and they had a son named Frank who was born, according to the 1890 census records, in 1882 in New York State.

Bridget and John had 10 children between 1882 and 1899, 6 of whom survived. Their 6 surviving children married into the Goyer, Macgregor, Masterson, Callagy, Bebernitz and Hancox families in Troy and produced 26 grandchildren. I am one of the currently 5 surviving grandchildren.

John Malone died August 2,1910 at his home at 16 House Avenue in Troy. His obituary indicated he was a highly respected citizen and a skilled workman. He had worked on many of the new R.P.I. buildings of the period and the R.P.I. approach and at the time of his death was inspector of the work for construction of the new Public School #1 at Ingalls and 6th Avenue.

Bridget died July 7, 1930 at 25 Park Avenue Troy, New York.
