John
Malone born, May 1857 in the area of Clogan, County Offaly Ireland.
known as "the bottoms" married Bridget McIntyre, who
was born in 1860+/- in Ireland in the same area as John Malone.
John's
father, Richard Malone was a farmer and was born in County Offlay
in 1809 and died there in Banagher on 05/01/1884. John's mother,
Margaret Navin or Nevin was born in 1812 and died 02/07/1883
in Banagher.
Bridget's
parents were John McIntyre and Ann Carroll McIntyre. Bridget
was the youngest of John and Ann's 12 children.
John
Malone first appears in the Troy area in 1871 when at 14 years
of age he declared his intention of becoming a U.S. citizen.
No further record is available for John until 1886 when he appears
in the Troy city directory living on Tyler Street in South Troy
and is listed as a mason, at that time he was already married
to Bridget McIntyre and they had a son named Frank who was born,
according to the 1890 census records, in 1882 in New York State.
Bridget
and John had 10 children between 1882 and 1899, 6 of whom survived.
Their 6 surviving children married into the Goyer, Macgregor,
Masterson, Callagy, Bebernitz and Hancox families in Troy and
produced 26 grandchildren. I am one of the currently 5 surviving
grandchildren.
John
Malone died August 2,1910 at his home at 16 House Avenue in
Troy. His obituary indicated he was a highly respected citizen
and a skilled workman. He had worked on many of the new R.P.I.
buildings of the period and the R.P.I. approach and at the time
of his death was inspector of the work for construction of the
new Public School #1 at Ingalls and 6th Avenue.
Bridget
died July 7, 1930 at 25 Park Avenue Troy, New York.
