4 July 1894 |
KISSELBURGH-OBITUARY-In Ghent, Columbia county, July 4, 1894, Tunis Kissleburgh, aged 83 years and 10 months. Mr. Kisselburgh was father of the late William E. Kisselburgh of the Troy Times and was a native of Columbia county. In his younger years he was a farmer and the owner of a fine farm in the town of Ghent. Subsequently he owned and for several years conducted a hotel. About the years 1864-5 he returned to Troy. For several years he held the office of canal inspector at West Troy. In 1884-5 he returned to Ghent, and there spent the remainder of his life. Mr. Kisselburgh possessed the sterling quality of integrity. He was a just man, true in his friendships, earnest in his convictions, charitable and generous. No one would go farther or do more, as money and opportunity permitted, to help a good cause and sustain good men. He was proud of his son, William E., who venerated his noble-hearted father. The decease of the son was a blow from which the father, then advanced in years, never recovered. Many friends he had in this city. Ripe in years, he joins his wife, who preceded him but a few months to the grave, and both are now united with the beloved son in the Better World and the Immortal Life. | 61-3 |
