I
am researching the BUCKLEY and LANNIGAN families. Both families
arrived in Troy from Fethard, Co. Tipperary in the late 1840's
and three Lannigans married three Buckleys
Denis Lanigan (1792-1858) & Catherine Maher (1794-1867)
were born, married and had 10 children in Fethard, Co. Tipperary.
Most of the family migrated to Troy, Rensselaer, NY 1845-1849.
Several of the adult children died in Troy: Timothy - 1853,
Patrick - 1847, William - c. 1859, and Dennis - 1911. Others
(John, Richard, Bridget Lanigan Buckley and Honora Buckley Lanigan)
migrated to Pittsburgh, Allegheny, PA 1860-1870. Next generation
were in Chicago, Kenosha, WI.
James Buckley (1790-1850) & Catherine O'Shea (1997-?) were
born and married and had at least 7 children in Fethard, Co.
Tipperary.
Timothy Lannigan was one of the victims in the "Veiled
Murderess" Case in 1853.
Most members of both families moved on to the Pittsburgh, PA
area by the mid 1860s
