Brennan/Leahy/Cavanaugh

I am researching James BRENNAN of Castlecomer, Kilkenny, son of Martin and Mary Brennan. He was born about 1815 - 1820. The Brennans were stonemasons who settled in WEST TROY, now WATERVLIET, NY. James Brennan arrived in New York in 1846 but other Brennans arrived in 1839. Brennan brothers or cousins are Lawrence, Thomas, Martin, Garret and another James.

My James married Margaret (Lahy) LEAHY, daughter of Michael and Mary CODY Leahy, possibly from Kilkenny. They were married in Watervliet, formerly West Troy, in 1847. James Lahy and John Cody lived in neighboring Cohoes NY in the 1860s. The Cody family must have moved on, but the Lahys stayed.

Apparently there are no Irish records available on my James and Margaret Lahy Brennan. Margaret's cousin, Ellen Cody married John Cavanaugh and moved to Cohoes. John Cavanaugh fought in the Civil War and died about 1868. Ellen and son John lived in both Cohoes and West Troy. I can find no trace of Ellen or son John F. Cavanaugh after 1914.
